No Potatoes or Burgers: Doctor Calls Most Harmful Type of Fast Food

Fast food is not the best option for our health. However, if you plan to end up at your favorite cafe, at least don’t order this dish. Your body will thank you!

Much has been said about the dangers of fast food. However, we continue to eat it. Sometimes the idea of a hearty burger “on a sesame bun” just doesn’t go out of your head. But most often we go to fast food restaurants because we don’t have free time or because we are too lazy to cook healthy meals for ourselves.

Of course, ideally, visits to fast food outlets should be reduced to almost zero. It will help to control weight and not expose health to blows.

However, the rules are there to be broken. So if you’re not planning to give up fast food altogether, try limiting your intake of at least one food — which doctors call “deathly heart-damaging.”

You will be surprised, but we are not talking about burgers, fries or fried pies at all. The most harmful fast food product is breaded fried cheese, which has long established its position in the menu of such establishments.

“Fast food initially contains a huge amount of sodium, which can increase blood pressure and increase the load on the heart. And it is in fried cheese that the maximum amount of sodium is contained – at least 1000 mg, and sometimes, with an increased portion, more than 2000. At the same time, the daily dose of this trace element is only 1500 mg.

The high sodium content, combined with the extra amount of saturated fat, creates an increased risk of cardiovascular disease,” says Anjali Datta, MD, cardiologist.

When going out to fast food restaurants, the expert advises to dilute the usual menu with healthier products: for example, order a salad as an accompaniment or slices of apple and carrot for dessert. And if you really like fried cheese, it’s better to cook it at home: without butter or breadcrumbs. This option will turn out even tastier – and save a few hundred calories on the dish at once.
