British music producer and composer William Orbit, who worked with Madonna and U2, has died at the age of 69, his family announced on social media.
In a social media post, his family said his absence would be great for them and for the countless people he touched with his music, friendship and kindness.
Collaborations and Grammy Awards
Orbit was born on December 15, 1956, in London and became a prominent figure in electronic and pop music production. International recognition arrived in the late 1990s through his collaboration with Madonna on the album Ray of Light, which achieved major success and earned him three Grammy Awards.
Throughout his career, Orbit produced work for and collaborated with influential artists including U2, Blur, All Saints, Britney Spears, R.E.M., Pink, Beth Orton, Queen, Prince and No Doubt. He also released personal album projects and composed music for film and television, leaving a distinct creative mark on modern pop and electronic music.
