Film production company Focus Features has officially scheduled the global theatrical release of director Curry Barker's new project, Anything But Ghosts, for May 7, 2027.
The supernatural film stars Aaron Paul and Bryce Dallas Howard, with Barker himself stepping in front of the camera to play one of the central roles.
Plot details and cinematic universe
Anything But Ghosts follows two scammers who earn a living by staging fraudulent ghost hunts for unsuspecting clients. Their scheme takes an unexpected turn when the duo encounters a real spectral entity during one of their operations.
The story is set within the same narrative universe as Obsession, Barker's earlier directorial effort. The new release expands upon the world established in that earlier thriller.
A swift production schedule
Principal photography for the movie was completed in just 26 days. Barker described the shoot as the hardest work of his life, noting that the entire project was filmed under an exceptionally tight schedule.
Focus Features will oversee the worldwide distribution of the movie when it arrives in cinemas in May 2027.
Stars and studio background
Lead actor Paul achieved international acclaim for his role as Jesse Pinkman in the television drama Breaking Bad, winning three Primetime Emmy Awards for his performance. He has since appeared in numerous film and television productions.
Howard gained global recognition playing Claire Dearing in the box-office hit Jurassic World trilogy. In addition to her acting career, she has directed major television projects for prominent entertainment franchises.
Focus Features, a prominent American production and distribution firm, has built a reputation for releasing high-profile independent cinema and major genre titles. The company will handle global distribution across theatrical markets.
Director Barker continues to build his career as a rising filmmaker, following up on his work on Obsession with this latest feature. Further marketing materials and preview trailers are expected to debut closer to the 2027 launch date.
