Apple TV Shares Trailer and Premiere Date for Last Seen

Apple TV has released the first trailer and premiere date for its new Australian miniseries Last Seen, adapted from Ryan David Jahn's novel The Dispatcher. The action-packed mystery thriller will be available to stream starting in September on the platform.

A father who never lost hope of recovering his missing daughter

The five-week Australian production will debut on the streaming service on September 9 with a two-episode launch. New episodes will be released every Wednesday until the series completes its broadcast run on October 7.

The series highlights the commendable and necessary work of emergency dispatchers, a role gaining public recognition through video games like Dispatcher and Ice Cube's version of War of the Worlds. In Spain, while the profession exists, the title of dispatcher is often described as calling central command rather than specifying an emergency controller, coordinator, operator, or manager. However, the importance of emergency operators remains vital worldwide.

Plot and lead character

Patrick Brammall, known for Colin from Accounts and the recent film The Devil Wears Prada 2, stars as protagonist Ian Ridley. Ridley is a police detective whose life was shattered eleven years ago when his young daughter, Maggie, disappeared without a trace. Unable to accept that the girl has died, Ridley ended up working as an emergency dispatcher while keeping his obsession with finding her intact.

The story shifts when Ridley receives a distress call from a teenage girl and becomes convinced that Maggie is on the other end of the line. From that moment, Ridley will do everything possible to locate her and reunite his family, even if he has to take risks and face consequences that could go far beyond what he initially imagined.

Cast and production team

The cast of Last Seen also features Maxine Peake, Brendan Cowell, Daniel Henshall, Zahra Newman, Jessica Wren, Tobias Muhafidin, and debutante Chloe Jean Lourdes.

Kris Mrksa adapted the miniseries from the original novel and serves as an executive producer. Christian Schwochow, known for directing The Crown and Munich: The Edge of War, directs the series and also serves as an executive producer.
