Why we are attracted to sweet scents: deciphering this SOS signal from the body

Do you prefer sweet gourmet compositions? So it’s time for you to slow down and relax. Let’s talk about logic here.

We always support diversity: always more spirits, good and different! Perfumery compositions tune in a special way, improve mood, develop imagination, help to remember the brightest moments in life… In a word, they fill our life with emotions.

But all is not so simple. Some experts believe cravings for “sweet” scents are a sign that you’re stressed and need a break. Smells of pastry, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, cotton candy, tropical fruits, balsamic hues, burnt sugar… You know what we’re talking about – anything you want to eat!

The mechanics here are the same as in the kitchen. When we are stressed, we often want to soothe our sorrows and lift our spirits. Sweet scents, on the other hand, are intuitively associated with pleasant tastes and are generally associated with absolute peace, security, contentment, and joy.

When using sweet flavorings, the brain begins to release endorphins, which reduce anxiety and improve overall well-being. Such perfume compositions help us forget our troubles, distract ourselves and relax for a while.
