How to distinguish fat from puffiness: many women do not know this and spend years finding useless ways to lose weight

Is your stomach so big because you eat a lot of fatty and starchy foods, or because it’s a consequence of water retention in the body? Understanding this nuance is very important both from the point of view of body aesthetics and to detect possible health problems in time.

Fat and swelling are very similar, but there are still a few ways to tell them apart:

Consistency

The fat usually has a soft, springy texture, while the swelling can be firmer or puffier. When lightly pressed, white marks or small bumps remain on the skin.

Tactile feelings

The fat is usually more mobile and slides easily under the skin, while the swelling may be firmer and somewhat painful to the touch. So be sure to focus on your own feelings!

Appearance

Fat deposits are usually distributed quite evenly throughout the body, especially in problem areas, i.e. fat traps: on the abdomen, thighs or buttocks. Edema, in turn, is often more localized and associated with a specific area or limb.

Symptoms

The swelling may be accompanied by additional symptoms: redness, pain or a feeling of heaviness at the level of the edema. This is not the case with body fat.

And above all, if you notice that you have significant swelling, seek urgent medical attention! After all, they can signal quite serious illnesses. Take care of yourself!
