Peelings and active sun: your beauty safety technique

Check out our cheat sheet on the correct use of peels during the active sun season.

Peeling is one of the most requested procedures by a cosmetologist. Such products for home care are no less popular. But in the warm season, improper use of the coat can lead to unfavorable consequences. How to avoid them, an expert told VOICE.

Yes, but under conditions

Peelings in summer are possible. First, there are so-called all-weather or superficial peels. They gently affect the skin, cleansing occurs in the upper layers, due to the slight superficial exfoliation of horny particles.

Secondly, peelings in the summer are indicated to solve a number of problems:

  1. In the presence of hyperpigmentation. Exposure to sunstroke increases the intensity of pigmentation and, to reduce it and prevent it from increasing in volume, peels are used.
  2. For problem and oily skin – to reduce sebum production, relieve the inflammatory process and reduce post-acne marks.
  3. With age-related changes. Peels trigger cell regeneration and renewal processes, stimulate the activation of collagen and elastin, improve tone and smooth wrinkles.
  4. before going to the station. Removing the superficial dead stratum corneum will improve skin color and the tan will be evenly distributed.

It is worth refraining from using peelings in the summer for owners of sensitive skin. In these cases, there is a risk of an inflammatory process and a long period of rehabilitation. Acute course of chronic skin diseases, exacerbation of herpetic infections, regardless of the localization of the skin, rosacea – in all these conditions peeling cannot be done.

A fresh tan on the skin is also a contraindication, since the dermis needs to “rest” from exposure to sunstroke. When applying a peel on a tan, there is a risk of pigmentation. Also, peeling should not be done if you are taking photosensitive drugs and during menstruation – there is a risk of an adverse reaction of the body at the time of hormonal changes.

Independent use of home peelings in the summer is possible only on the recommendation of a beautician.

Medium skins. In this case, there is an impact on the destruction of the stratum corneum of the skin up to the basement membrane. During the recovery period, redness, tightening and lamellar peeling of the skin are formed. Regeneration requires a long period of time. The frequency of medium peels varies depending on the composition and concentration of the product and its own regenerative functions.

Deep peels. One of the most aggressive effects on the skin. They are performed in a hospital under anesthesia, have a long list of contraindications and complications. The recovery period can take up to 6 months. Moreover, only a small number of specialists have the necessary experience to carry out the manipulation.

Under no circumstances should peeling be performed on damaged and inflamed skin. Preparing for the peel consists, first of all, of thoroughly cleansing the skin of make-up and impurities. Sometimes, in order to achieve a more tangible effect from the procedure, care products with low concentrations of acids are included in the pre-peeling preparation.

The scrub should be applied evenly to the skin. A certain exposure is maintained for a specified time. Overexposure of the remedy can lead to inflammation and long-term rehabilitation.

After exposure, the peeling is removed with a special neutralizer or water, it all depends on the composition. Then a mask with an anti-inflammatory effect is applied, a moisturizer is applied, and a cream with SPF 50 is required.

The main task of post-peeling care is to avoid complications and consolidate the effect of the procedure. The application of any cosmetic product for 12 hours is excluded. Under no circumstances should you exfoliate the skin flakes yourself. It is necessary to exclude active physical and thermal loads.

For home care, it is recommended to use products containing hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamin B5. A mandatory post-peeling step is the use of photoprotectors. SPF 50 is applied to the skin 20-30 minutes before going out and renewed every 3-4 hours.

How often should you exfoliate your face and body in the summer?

Peeling is recommended no more than once a week, so that the skin has time to recover after the procedure. A longer period is also possible, it all depends on the rehabilitation period and the composition of the applied agent.

In the summer, you should not get involved in peeling. In this case, due to active solar insolation, the risk of complications after the procedure increases. In order not to harm the skin, the selection of peeling agents and the course of treatment should be carried out by a specialist.
