Facial tapes: how do they work and are they really effective?

In the 1970s, athletes used body bands to recover from injuries and prevent sprains. In cosmetology, this story is not new either: it is said that Marlene Dietrich attached strips of silk to her face before performances. Today, the method is being reincarnated. For what? “Taping relieves swelling and, above all, it noticeably rejuvenates thanks to the normalization of muscle tone. Its violation leads to the appearance of a second chin and mimic wrinkles, ”says Elena Kalino, trained at the International Association of Kinesio Taping. If beauty sins like pursed lips and a wrinkled forehead lie behind you, then colored ribbons are for you.

Taping is not a beauty injection for you: you can’t “spoil” your face with it, you don’t need to have a medical degree, it can be done by pregnant and breastfeeding women. But don’t rush to stick your way! There are video tutorials and even offline courses where a specialist will select the applications that are right for you and teach you how to apply them correctly. “The only thing is that teips will not help with severe ptosis (sagging) and skin flaccidity, but only aggravate them,” says Anastasia Dubinskaya, founder of the Revitonika school. “Also, you shouldn’t wear duct tape if you’re allergic to glue, have skin conditions, or have thin skin.”

How?

First, don’t skimp. “The price of tapes directly depends on the quality of the glue: a strong chemical smell is unacceptable,” warns Dubinskaya. Focus on the country of production: the best are made in Japan, Korea and Germany. Secondly, Elena Kalino advises using bands during training: “Blood circulation improves, tissues are actively supplied with oxygen and “respond” faster to fixation. Finally, experts unanimously say that tapes can be stuck only on cleansed skin, avoiding creases and creases. Ideally, the current procedure should be performed, but the first results are promised after 2 hours of wearing.
