Hyaluronic Beauty Standard: A Guide to Skin Hydration

Hyaluronic Beauty Standard: A Guide to Skin Hydration

In a joint project with Librederm, we understand why hyaluronic acid is a must in daily care.

You’ve probably heard of hyaluronic acid, one of the most popular moisturizing ingredients: it’s used in skincare, decorative cosmetics, injections, and even dietary supplements. But can you imagine exactly how it works and how he won universal love?

Together with Alfonso Romero De La Torre, quality manager of the Librederm international laboratory, we decided to find out why the skin needs hyaluronic acid so much, how to obtain the maximum effect from skin care products and which products can be called the hyaluronic beauty standard.

1. What is hyaluronic acid and how does it work in cosmetics?

It is a polysaccharide that is part of connective, epithelial and nervous tissues. At the same time, about 50% of its total amount is concentrated in the skin: in it, hyaluronic acid is responsible for retaining moisture, and also takes part in the formation of collagen and elastin, which are necessary for maintaining of skin tone. This substance is constantly synthesized in the body, but with age its production decreases. Then, funds with hyaluronic acid come to the rescue: in them it acts as a moisturizing and rejuvenating component.

2. What are the types of hyaluronic acid?

It comes in three types, which differ in the size of the molecules and, therefore, the depth of penetration into the skin.

High molecular weight hyaluronic acid has a pronounced moisturizing effect, but it acts mainly on the surface of the skin: large molecules cannot penetrate deeper layers.

Medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid is designed to accelerate tissue regeneration. You should not expect an immediate effect, but with regular use, this component can improve lymphatic flow, stimulate skin metabolism and eliminate toxins.

A low molecular weight is able to penetrate deepest – into the dermis, where it not only compensates for the loss of moisture and the deficiency of its own hyaluronic acid, but also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. In itself, it is a more expensive component than a high or medium molecular weight type, but this investment is justified: the small size of the molecules and their depth of penetration promise deep and lasting hydration, rather than action at short term. effect. It is this type of high concentration hyaluronic acid that has become the basis of the Hyaluronic* Librederm collection.

Sometimes two or three types of hyaluronic acid are combined in different proportions to achieve one or another result. As a result, active complexes are obtained, for example, to eliminate wrinkles. Additionally, regardless of the type of hyaluronic acid used in the product, this ingredient is always listed as sodium hyaluronate** in the composition.

3. How does hyaluronic acid interact with the other active ingredients?

It is a basic ingredient that blends wonderfully with other skincare active ingredients. A good example is the Hyaluronic Eco-refill Librederm collection of moisturizers for different skin types. Each product contains hyaluronic acid, but different additional ingredients have been introduced into the formulas to address specific concerns. At the same time, hydration remains the base, as it is necessary for any skin type.

4. Speaking of skin types: is hyaluronic acid right for everyone?

Yes, it can be used to treat all skin types, including problem and sensitive. This also applies to oily skin: increased sebum production does not equate to sufficient hydration, they are different characteristics. Oily skin can be dehydrated, so it’s important to replenish and maintain its moisture balance. Hyaluronic acid treatments are particularly recommended for women over 25: at this age, the synthesis of their own hyaluronic acid begins to decline.

Hyaluronic acid products can be used both in case of dryness and in the absence of visible skin problems to maintain an optimal water balance in the cells of the epidermis.

5. Can a hyaluronic acid product not work?

If you do not have an individual intolerance to this component, there are several reasons why you do not see the desired effect.

First, it can be excessive care: try not to overload the skin and do not bet on the quantity, but on the quality of the products. For example, Librederm’s basic moisturizing ritual consists of just two steps and includes using the collection’s base products with balanced formulas designed to work together for skin’s beauty.

Secondly, products containing hyaluronic acid can be ineffective due to poor lifestyle and the presence of skin lesions through which moisture simply leaves.

Third, your skin may not match the cream base. It also happens that the pH of the skin is incompatible with the product, but this is rare. In these cases, all that remains is to choose another treatment.

Finally, perhaps not enough time has passed to see the result: it is better to evaluate the effect after a few weeks – a month after regular use.

Your daily hydration plan from the Librederm expert

In the Librederm hyaluronic care system for all skin types, the products work synergistically and provide comprehensive care. Together they help fight dryness and retain moisture in the deeper layers of the skin. With regular use, you can notice how the face gains an even tone and glow. How to use the products of the Hyaluronic collection and why can they be considered the hyaluronic beauty standard? Let’s talk!

Step 1: Cleaning

The first step of the treatment is washing with Librederm soft hyaluronic foam (1), with which you don’t have to choose between cleanliness and comfort: it gently removes impurities and make-up, while moisturizing the skin in the process. The whole secret lies in low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which helps retain moisture in the skin and helps strengthen its hydrolipidic barrier.

Step 2: moisturizer

Step 1: Toning

Don’t skip this step: using a toner helps restore the skin’s normal pH balance after cleansing and removes residual impurities. In addition to these basic functions, the Librederm tonic (2) promises to additionally moisturize, give a feeling of freshness and improve the effect of subsequent products.

Step 2: intensive moisturizing treatment

Now it’s time for intensive moisturizing care: the Librederm activating serum (3) with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid penetrates deep into the skin, eliminating tightness and dryness. A nice plus: thanks to its light texture, the product is quickly absorbed and is suitable for use as a make-up base.

Step 3: basic moisturizer

The last step in your beauty ritual is the Librederm face, neck and décolleté cream (4). It not only contributes to long-term hydration and elasticity, but also maintains the effect of the previous steps, “sealing” moisture into the skin. Moreover, thanks to a practical bottle, you can “regulate” it in your handbag to renew it during the day, especially if you spend a lot of time in rooms with dry air.
