Nostalgia Perfume: 4 Budget-Friendly Perfumes That Were Very Popular In The 90s And Are Still On Sale

Smells are a real time machine! You catch the notes of long-familiar, but forgotten spirits, and are transported to bright times of the past. This is how your mother’s scarf smelled, and you received this perfume as a gift from your first love… Let’s remember the inexpensive, but brilliant perfumes that were considered hits in the 90s and zero – they did not lose their merits, and the cost remained affordable.

Isa Ulric de Varens

A real perfume of memory! Isa became one of the first Russian successes of the French budget perfumery brand – girls bought small bottles with a pink cork in a moire box in the “commercial services” that sold imports. These scents are often referred to as spicy orientals, but they don’t have a heavy chic. Isa smells of pink flowers on a powdery base with hints of nutmeg, and this fragrance is so cheerful and comfortable that it suits a woman aged 18-45.

O-zone – Sergio Taccini

“I breathe it in and remember my student days!” – so many people say of the O-Zone. The floral green fragrance with aquatic notes appeared on sale in the late 90s and early 2000s, became a super hit with the generation of graduates of the time and was for some time considered a successful budget competitor to the ubiquitous DG Light Blue. A discreet blend of very interesting fragrance notes, including chamomile, green tea and cedar, creates an instant feeling of cleanliness and freshness.

Marina De Bourbon Princess – Marina De Bourbon

Amazingly, this fragrance, released in 1994, even today when we are all tempted by the selectives and niches, still sounds rich and dignified in a good way. And when it first appeared, it instantly became the most sought-after gift: an affordable price interfered neither with the beautiful design nor with the phenomenal durability of the perfume. Ylang-ylang, jasmine, raspberry, peach, watermelon, vanilla, passion fruit – all delicious at once! Now there are already 56 fragrances in the brand’s portfolio, and all of them are more or less similar to the flagship fragrance, but nothing compares to the first Marina.

Great-Kesling

Initially, this fragrance from the now half-forgotten perfume house Kesling was released in 1944, but it was not released for long. However, in the late 80s some Kesling fragrances were reformulated to include more economical ingredients and returned to the market for a long time. Formidable also bribed customers with an unusual double bottle – in the most popular edition, perfume and eau de toilette, connected by a common cap, are sold together.

Many people say that Formidable (by the way, it translates as “terrible”!) Reminds them of the smell of Soviet wooden furniture polish, others call it a clone of Chopard’s Casmir. But the fact remains – it is a very beautiful resinous fragrance with hints of ripe peach, which does not leave indifferent any lover of the eastern direction in perfumery. In addition, a delicate bottle lasts a very long time!
