Actress Jennifer Gray, 62, has opened up about her plastic surgery failures in the early 90s in a new memoir, Out Of The Corner. She revealed the truth about both the aftermath of the surgeries and her relationship with former Dirty Dancing co-star Patrick Swayze. In a dialogue with People, Gray also recalled how once Michael Douglas did not recognize her on the red carpet:
It was the first time I went public. It is impossible to remain invisible every day. In the eyes of the whole world, I ceased to be myself, ”the actress complained, adding that this case was too painful for her.
Gray also noted that she had been an opponent of rhinoplasty all her life, but “understood” why other actors of Jewish origin also resorted to this procedure – they wanted to “assimilate” in Hollywood:
I suddenly realized: in order to become famous, you have to change your name, you have to do certain things that are expected of you. At that time it was in the order of things. We had to conform to public opinion.
In addition, Gray told the New York Times that relatives and plastic surgeons persuaded her to do the operation. However, the second procedure was unsuccessful. The actress even recalled an unpleasant incident when an airline employee who watched Dirty Dancing many times did not recognize her and commented:
I know Jennifer Grey. And it’s not you.

Rumor has it that such changes in appearance adversely affected the star’s career, although she continued to work for the past few decades, including as a guest judge on the 2011 show Strictly Come Dancing. What’s more, Gray announced that she plans to star in a Dirty Dancing sequel 30 years after the original’s release:
I would like to give old fans or a new young audience an experience that will never be repeated, but at the same time will have an original base.
Recall that Jennifer Gray is best known for her role as Francis “Baby” Houseman in the film “Dirty Dancing”, on the set of which she worked with the late Patrick Swayze, who played Johnny Castle. A year earlier, Grace had also appeared on the big screen in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. About the rhinoplasty that ruined her career, the actress first said back in 2006:
I walked into the operating room as a celebrity and walked out as a nobody. It felt like I went through a witness protection program or became invisible.
The last role of Jennifer on the screen was an episode in the TV series House M.D. There, the actress played one of the main character’s patients and appeared in only one episode.
