Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz have returned to New York after a trip to the South of France, days after narrowly missing his estranged parents David and Victoria Beckham in St Tropez.

The aspiring chef, 27, and his 31-year-old actress wife were seen holding hands and smiling as they arrived at Nobu for lunch on Sunday afternoon. Brooklyn wore a black top with dark denim trousers and white trainers, while Nicola wore a white blouse with low-waisted jeans.

Ice cream and near miss in St Tropez

The New York outing came after the couple stepped out for an ice cream in St Tropez just days before Brooklyn's parents were seen strolling through the same French resort. David and Victoria were photographed hand in hand two days later, walking past the sweet shop The Pirate's Candies just a five-minute walk from where Brooklyn and Nicola had been, before dining at the Italian restaurant Cherry nearby.

Time with Elton John instead of the family yacht

Brooklyn skipped the Beckhams' annual summer getaway aboard the family's 16 million pound yacht for the second year in a row after severing ties with his parents and siblings. Instead, he joined his godfather Sir Elton John, 79, aboard the singer's yacht off the French coast. On Saturday, Brooklyn and Nicola were seen chatting on deck with Sir Elton and his husband, David Furnish, 63.

Meanwhile, the Beckhams enjoyed their own Mediterranean break with younger sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, daughter Harper, 15, and Romeo's girlfriend Kim Turnbull, 25. Before arriving in St Tropez, Victoria and David visited the Balearic Islands with Romeo aboard their yacht, Seven, also worth 16 million pounds. The Beckhams and Sir Elton have been friends for more than 30 years, with David affectionately calling the singer "Uncle Elton" since they met during his football career. Victoria and David also recently followed the World Cup around the US with Romeo, Kim, Harper, Cruz and his girlfriend Jackie Apostel, 30. Despite living in the US, Brooklyn has avoided all family outings.

The rift with 'Brand Beckham'

In January, Brooklyn released a six-page statement denouncing his parents and declared he was no longer part of "Brand Beckham." He claimed David and Victoria had controlled him for much of his life, tried to drive a wedge between him and Nicola, and embarrassed him when his mother danced "inappropriately" with him during the first dance at his wedding.

Brooklyn has not publicly acknowledged any of his parents' birthdays or milestones since the rift began, around the time of David's 50th birthday celebrations, and did not share a Father's Day post this year. It was previously reported that Brooklyn was "furious" that his parents had included him in a Father's Day post and wants them to "leave him alone." Shortly before Christmas last year, Brooklyn blocked his parents on Instagram, and his lawyers later wrote to the Beckhams' team asking that all communication go through legal representatives.

Backlash over DoorDash advert

Earlier this year, Brooklyn was accused of selling his family out after releasing a two-part DoorDash commercial. Five months after saying he and Nicola wanted privacy, he was branded "classless" by fans. In the teaser, released on June 15, Brooklyn smirks and says: "You're probably wondering why I'm watching the Fifa World Cup 2026 from home... It's a long story." The line was taken as a mocking reference to his parents, and friends of the Beckhams said the couple were "devastated and inconsolable" over the advert.
