Carmen Bazan has expressed outrage after Camila Naranjo accused her children of abandoning their father Humberto Janeiro in hospital before his 2020 death. Bazan, who has four children with Janeiro, is deeply angry about the claims made by his widow on television.
Naranjo spoke out on Thursday during an interview with reporter Alex Alvarez on the Telecinco program El verano se mueve. During the broadcast, she reversed her previous public stance regarding her nine-year marriage to Janeiro, who died in August 2020.
In her interview, Naranjo stated that she never had sexual relations with Janeiro throughout their entire marriage. She explained that he was no longer capable of intimacy with women due to diabetes.
Allegations of Wasted Years and Hospital Duty
Naranjo claimed that she slept on the sofa for all nine years of their marriage so that Janeiro could rest in bed. She said that she felt she had lost nine years of her life and was never in love with him. She added that while he did not hit or insult her, he was not good to her.
The widow also admitted that her past comments missing Janeiro were not genuine. She explained that her representative had instructed her to say she missed him whenever she spoke publicly.
Naranjo turned her focus to Janeiro's children, claiming she had to shoulder the burden of caring for him alone during his hospital stays. She said that none of the children wanted to stay overnight at the hospital with their father.
According to Naranjo, his son Humberto Jr. behaved the worst among the siblings during his father's illness. However, she noted that Victor Janeiro and his wife Beatriz Trapote were the exception and treated both her and Janeiro very well.
Response from Carmen Bazan and Debts Revealed
Details of Bazan's reaction were shared on El verano se mueve by show presenter Ion Aramendi and collaborator Leticia Requejo. Requejo reported that Bazan considers everything Naranjo said to be lies and does not understand the motivation behind her change of story.
Requejo noted that Bazan and Naranjo had encountered each other in person just a few days prior to the broadcast. She added that Bazan finds it unfair for Naranjo to bring up a painful past and target her children.
Bazan divorced Janeiro in 2003 following repeated infidelities. Requejo reminded viewers that all four children sided with their mother during the 2003 separation because Janeiro had failed as a father and left several debts that the children were forced to pay off.
Despite the criticism, Alvarez told the program that looking into Naranjo's eyes during the interview gave him a sense of credibility.
