Who is the doctor and TV host who takes care of Lula’s health

Roberto Kalil Filho is one of the men with the greatest influence on the president and a celebrity in an elite hospital in SP

Known as Dr. Kalil, Roberto Kalil Filho is one of the most famous doctors among businessmen, politicians, artists, athletes and members of high society in São Paulo.

He took care of Lula’s health for decades. He is currently monitoring pneumonia that forced the president and his entourage to cancel an important trip to China.

He rushed from São Paulo to the Palácio da Alvorada, in Brasilia, to examine the most influential patient in the Republic.

In addition to being professor of Cardiology at the USP Faculty of Medicine, director of Cardiology at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital and president of the Board of Directors of Incor, the 63-year-old doctor presents the ‘Sinais Vitais’ program on CNN Brasil .

Eventually, he participates live in other productions of the network. He is friends with the owner of the TV, the billionaire Rubens Menin, and with the president of the board, João Camargo.

Almost all the most powerful people in the Brazilian media have passed through Kalil’s office. He also looks after the welfare of former presidents, business tycoons, big investors and socialites.

Getting a private appointment scheduled is difficult and expensive (about BRL 2,000). His patients are loyal because they appreciate the availability and good humor of the doctor. He basically lives 24 hours for work.

At Lula and Janja’s wedding in May 2022, he was the only one invited to be able to enter with his cell phone precisely because of the possibility of being called to respond to an emergency.

The petitioner expresses gratitude to the doctor for the support he received from him when he had laryngeal cancer (2011), on the occasion of the death of Marisa Letícia (2017) and during the period in which he was detained in the Curitiba PF (2018 -2019).

Married to endocrinologist Claudia Cozer, Roberto Kalil has two daughters from a previous marriage. In his rare spare time, he likes to play saxophone and enjoy his spacious country house within SP.

Before working at CNN Brasil, the cardiologist worked as a columnist on the extinct morning show ‘Bem-Estar’, on Globo. He has already been interviewed on important TV attractions, such as ‘Roda Viva’, on TV Cultura.
