The NGO founded in 2015 has been renamed Instituto Caramelo and will continue without using the image of the influencer
The Luisa Mell Institute announced last Friday, 28, that it will be renamed the Caramelo Institute. In a post on social networks, the NGO revealed what motivated the change and details of activist Luisa Mell’s participation in the institution.
The Instagram profile clarified which name was used to have greater reach. “This group invited Luisa Mell to participate, on the premise that it would be an entirely voluntary service for all. well-known brand with real work behind it,” the caption reads.
“This change comes to depersonalize the work and separate individual attitudes and interests from the purpose of the group. It has been the result of a lot of conversation, understanding and planning. And our entire team remains, the animals remain in the shelter and in our space, which was given and built with the private resources of one of the founders, remains the same”.
Instituto Caramelo has also responded to a comment from an Internet user who was surprised by the change. “Contrary to what many think, Luísa has never given any money to the Institute. Not even a single donation. It was money from other people in the group and donations that made things work over the years. Show any deposits to the institute ,” he wrote.
Also in the publication, part of the netizens took sides in defense of the activist. “Let’s not forget that it was his name that brought visibility, willy-nilly, he attracted trust, donors, many, many adoptions. He may not have donated money, but often the image is worth even more,” wrote a follower.
So far the influencer Luisa Mell has not commented on the episode.
