The ‘Bob’s Burgers’ actor arrested over the US Capitol attack

“Arrested Development” actor and voice actor for “Bob’s Burgers”, Jay Johnston, was arrested this Wednesday (7/6) due to his involvement in the attack on the United States Capitol, an event which took place on January 6, 2021. According to police records, Johnston was charged with criminal obstruction of officials during the attack by far-right activists on the Congress building, as well as facing other charges.

The police report adds that Johnston used a stolen Capitol Police shield to create a “wall of shields” and confront officers, during the attack motivated by non-compliance with Donald Trump’s defeat in the latest US presidential election.

In March 2021, the FBI released an image of the actor in a crowd that caused riots and depredations at the Capitol, asking for his identity via Twitter. In the images, Johnston is seen wearing a camo green bandana and dark leather jacket inside the Capitol building.

When the pictures started circulating online, Johnston was cut from his role in ‘Bob’s Burgers’.

At the time, the Fox channel, which airs the animated series, chose not to comment on the reason for the voice actor’s dismissal.

Johnston voiced an important character in animation – Jimmy Pesto, owner of the Italian restaurant “Jimmy Pesto’s Pizzeria”, which is located across from the Belcher family’s hamburger restaurant. He is Bob Belcher’s main business rival and they often clash over their personal and work differences.
