In 1985, Depp met future Twin Peaks star Sherilyn Fenn on the set of the student film Dummies. The couple dated for almost three years. During this time, they managed to star together in a commercial, and Depp, in love, even wrote Fenn’s name on his helmet in the film Platoon. Reportedly, they were even engaged at one point. Although their relationship ended, Fenn fondly remembers the time they spent together.

“He was very nice. He was my first love. Our bond was strong enough. We spent time together, cooked, laughed and cried. I know him as a person, not as a movie star.”

The actress also supported Depp after Amber Heard’s accusations. Then she wrote on the social network: “I know that Johnny is not capable of such things.”

Depp met Dirty Dancing’s Jennifer Gray through her agent in 1989, just weeks after breaking off her engagement to Matthew Broderick. She later revealed in her memoir that Depp proposed to her within two weeks of meeting her, and she accepted, writing that he was “surprisingly open, funny, quirky and kind” on their first date.

True, in the end, their relationship did not last long. Gray later said the problems started when Depp started leaving for filming. Upon returning home, Johnny, according to her, became terribly jealous and “paranoid” because of what she did while he was away. Barkin claimed that Depp drugged her, “there was always an atmosphere of violence” around him, and he eventually became “controlling” and “jealous” and was “drunk most of the time”. Depp called those claims “incorrect”, saying Barkin was just mad at him.
