He is survived by his wife Sue Taylor and their three children, Alex, Oliver and Daisy. “He loved French food and wine, had a great knowledge of history and was a staunch Arsenal fan, as well as having enormous success as the nicest boy in the world,” reads the obituary released by the family to the local Santa Fe newspaper New Mexican. .

Excalibur

Born in England, Geoffrey began his career on British screens in 1977. During his early years, he made small appearances in films and series. It was in 1981 that he gained notoriety by starring in the medieval fantasy film ‘Excalibur’. He played the knight Perceval in the story portraying the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

His character featured prominently in John Boorman’s cult film (“Hope and Glory”), starring Nigel Terry (“Caravaggio”) as King Arthur and starring Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek: Picard”) and Liam Neeson (“Killer Without a Trace”) in the cast. Praised by audiences and critics alike, “Excalibur” won Best Artistic Contribution at Cannes in 1981 and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Cinematography category.

Greystoke – The Legend of Tarzan

In 1983, Geoffrey starred in the BBC miniseries “Spyship”, and the following year he starred in his next big production – “Greystoke – The Legend of Tarzan”, directed by Hugh Hudson (“Chariots of Fire”). In the storyline, Geoffrey played Lord John “Jack” Clayton, the father of Tarzan (lived by Christopher Lambert). Considered the best adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ work, the film was critically acclaimed and received 3 Academy Award nominations.

But later the roles drastically decreased and he was forced to divide his time between films, series and real estate agent work.

One of his latest highlights was as Mr. Lockwood in the 1992 adaptation of author Emily Brontë’s classic “Wuthering Heights.” The feature film was directed by Peter Kosminsky (“The Promise”) and starred actor Ralph Fiennes (“The Menu”) opposite French actress Juliette Binoche (“Above the Clouds”).

Series

Geoffrey has also made appearances in television productions such as ‘The Jewel in the Crown’ (1984), ‘Zina’ (1985), ‘Anna Karenina’ (1985), ‘Napoleon and Josephine: A Love Story’ (1987), ‘The Manageress” (1989), “Acapulco HEAT” (1993) and “The Staircase” (1998), and returned to film in the comedy “Thomas Crown, the Art of Crime” (1999), with Pierce Brosnan (“Mamma Mia : Here we go again!”).

After a period of more than 10 years away from the screen, the actor reappeared in 2015, in a role in ‘Better Call Saul’, a series derived from the hit ‘Breaking Bad’, as the tailor of the protagonist, played by the actor Bob Odenkirk.

Later, he also starred in the series ‘Get Shorty: A Mafia do Cinema’ (2017) and ‘Perpetual Grace, LTD’ (2019), his latest works.
