Angina, Lucky, Shark: How 2000s pop divas live with the weirdest pseudonyms today

20 years ago, their songs thundered on all the dance floors of the country, and sonorous names immediately remained engraved in the memory of the listeners. And now what? We say.

Lucky (Olga Kozina), group “Virus”

Success came to the group Virus in 1999, when their song “Don’t look for me” took off on the charts. And then, thanks to the pop techno trio, the question “Where are your pens?” has become the most popular in any nightclub. In addition to the soloist, who performed under the pseudonym Olga Lucky, the members included DJ Doctor (aka Yuri Stupnik) and Chip (Andrey Gudas worldwide). At the peak of their popularity, the producers of the group resorted to a well-known ploy – they recruited a second line-up in order to earn more. As a result, the original composition rebelled and embarked on an independent journey. You will be surprised, but the group Virus still exists today, and performs and records songs with the same “golden” line-up.

Angina (Nadezhda Igoshina)

Nadezhda has been dancing since childhood, performed in the ballet show “Todes”, and at the age of 16 she arrived at the “Star Factory-4”, where she sang the song “Who cares”, which immediately became a hit. After the musical reality finale, Igoshina fell under the wing of Viktor Drobysh, who found his sonic pseudonym and released a solo album. However, this singing career came to a halt, after which Igoshina began to act in films and TV shows. Among his most notable projects is the series “Peace! Friendship! Gum!” and the film “How Nadia went to get vodka”. Igoshina is married, the couple have three children – sons and a daughter.

Shark (Oksana Pochepa)

Rostov singer Oksana Pochepa was incredibly lucky. At the age of 17, she was noticed by Sergey Zhukov, the singer of the then mega-popular group “Hands Up!”. In 2000, Oksana moved to Moscow and became a shark. The first song “Acid DJ” and the self-titled debut album made the girl a star. Radio rotations, tours, fans – Shark had all the ingredients for success. However, in 2004, after performing in the United States, the singer decided to stay there to live.

Returning two years later to Russia, Pochepa worked in radio, ran as a deputy, and then returned to variety activities. Today Oksana performs under her own name, takes part in various shows and, of course, regularly appears at retro concerts.

Monokini (Tatiana Zaikina)

This production project of Maxim Fadeev, in fact, was remembered by the public with only one truly successful hit – the song “Reach for the Sun”, released in 2001. The mysterious brunette conquered the charts, but things did not did not go beyond the first album. The personal life of the artist interfered in his work. First, she married her brother Fadeev, but family life did not work out. Then the contract ended and Monokini finally disappeared from the radar.

It turned out that the singer remarried, gave birth to a daughter, and then left to work as a TV editor. Monokini devoted eight years to the popular program “Let’s get married!”. The new profession seemed to suit her perfectly, but a few years ago Tatiana returned to the stage. She could not use the old pseudonym, so she shortened it to Mona, but the singer has the right to perform previous hits, which fans enjoy at her concerts.
