Funk pioneer MC Katia dies in hospital in Rio de Janeiro

Icon and pioneer of funk, MC Katia died this Sunday, 13/08, after months in the Souza Aguiar hospital, in Rio de Janeiro. The singer had a tumor in her uterus and her clinical conditions worsened after developing a thrombosis, which led the artist to have her leg amputated.

Furthermore, after the amputation, Katia has launched an online crowdfunding to raise money to buy a prosthesis. On Saturday 8/12, the day before her death, she took to social media to celebrate the purchase of the item and thanked her for the donations. But the next day, he got worse and died.

The news was confirmed by the hospital and, on social media, the councilor of Rio de Janeiro Veronica Costa (PL) mourned the death of her friend. “He even had a rap with me between so many visits [ao hospital] saying the premiere would be right on stage. Kátia, you have arrived at the holiest stage in the world, which is the stage of God’s love. My dear friend, may Jesus already be with you in his arms “, he said.

In addition to her friend, with whom she posted an emotional video MC Katia in the hospital, other names in funk mourned the artist’s death, including: Pocah, Ludmilla AND Tati breaks up the shack.
