Princess Diana went down in history as the “Queen of human hearts” – friendly, kind and open, communicating on an equal footing with aristocrats and the poor. But there were people Diana couldn’t stand.

Enmity with the mother-in-law is a typical situation, and even members of the royal family are not immune to it. But contrary to popular belief that Diana and the Queen never understood each other, in fact, it all started well. So when she married Charles, Diana said she had the best mother-in-law in the world. Later, when the problems began in the marriage, it was with Elizabeth that Diana tried to find support and literally cried on her shoulder, sharing her experiences.

But, accustomed to placing the public above the staff, the queen was not happy about it. Well, the relationship finally soured in 1992, when the princess secretly worked on Diana’s instantly sensational book, Her True Story. In it, Diana criticized Prince Charles and showed that the royal family did not care about her and her problems at all.
To say the least, Camilla interfered with Diana. He was Charles’ first true love, but due to her previous romantic experiences, Camilla was shunned by the royal family as an unsuitable bride for a prince. The traditional heir to the throne was to marry a virgin of impeccable blood. But Camilla and Charles never stopped dating, even when Diana came into her life. In a 1992 interview, the Princess of Wales admitted that she found out about Charles and Camilla’s relationship before the wedding and even wanted to call it off. But the sisters convinced Diana that there was nothing to be done. They reportedly told her: “Well it’s too late Dee, your face has already been printed on the tea towels”, referring to the many products released for the royal engagement and wedding.
Diana tried to resist the situation and, as they say, attacked her opponent. So, once she told her rival directly that she was aware of everything that was going on between her and Charles and that she wanted her husband back.
But Camilla didn’t back down from hers either. In the end, she still managed to become Charles’s wife – they married in 2005, eight years after Diana’s death.

It’s hard to know where to start when it comes to how much Princess Diana hated her husband. According to insiders close to the royal family, Charles was a master at the stupid and hurtful comments that constantly plagued his life. For example, Diana claimed that he was the one who provoked her bulimia by calling her chubby when she was 19 years old.
When Diana collapsed at an exhibition in Canada, the first thing Charles said to her after regaining consciousness was that she was supposed to “…pass out quietly somewhere else, outside the door”.
The most famous example of Charles’ offensive behavior is the post-engagement interview. When asked if they were in love, Diana replied: “Of course”, and Charles preferred to express his thoughts in a more abstract way: “It depends on what you call falling in love”. Diana admitted that it traumatized her greatly. But the worst, according to Diana herself, was the birth of Prince Harry. Charles wanted a girl, and without red hair.
Obviously, in such an atmosphere, Diana could only feel disgust for her husband, and over the years the tension only increased. But their marriage lasted 15 years, which was actually the decision of the Queen, who wanted to avoid scandal.
The Queen’s daughter immediately disliked Diana due to her unorthodox approach to the monarchy and did not hide her feelings. Royal reporter Richard Kay told Vanity Fair that Diana, sensing this, actively avoided Anna.
The women had little in common. Anna was more traditional, enjoyed country life and pheasant hunting, while Diana was 11 years younger, liked living in town and tried to reform the monarchy.
Diana was aware of Anna’s feelings for her and did her best not to make matters worse. But it seems that at some point things got even worse when Diana deliberately broke with tradition by not making her godmother to Harry.

Ken Lennox is a renowned British photographer who was part of the paparazzi hype that followed Diana throughout her life. He is the owner of the photo, the publication of which was described by the Queen herself as “the blackest day in the history of British journalism”. For his own good, Lennox trekked through the jungles of the Bahamas and, using a super-powered lens, snapped a picture of Diana in a bikini. The particular piquancy of the photo is that it showed the rounded belly of the princess, who was then pregnant with Prince William. Diana confessed to being horrified by this photo, which immediately caused a stir in the press.
Lennox himself claimed that he showed more empathy towards her than other photographers during her rise to fame. So once he allegedly helped her get rid of the paparazzi as she tried to visit her grandmother. But it sounds more like an awkward apology: the paparazzi clearly brought Diana more harm than good and ultimately became an indirect cause of her death.
Diana was named “the most photographed person in the world” by Time magazine, so it’s no exaggeration to say that reporters were right on her heels. Especially in this case, Mark Saunders and Glenn Harvey stood out, who, it seems, were even proud of their shamelessness. They followed Diana for 13 years. In their book Dicing with Di, they went to great lengths to keep tabloids across Europe informed of events in Diana’s life: climbing mountains to see her skiing on vacation, stalking her in the middle of the night after to have been separated from Charles.
And the paparazzi shamelessly wrote that they so brazenly interfered in her life that Diana could burst into tears right in front of them. Although the princess never directly accused these two of anything, one can understand from this reaction on her part how she felt.
