Actor Victor Meyniel is the victim of homophobic assault

The actor Victor Meyniel was beaten in the early hours of Saturday 2, in Rio de Janeiroby a boy identified as Yuri de Moura Alexandre, accused of homophobia by the actor’s defense.

Victor would have met the attacker in a nightclub south of Rio. According to the lawyer Ricardo Brajterman, the artist would have gone to the home of Yuri, who, until the moment of the attack, had proved to be a friendly person.

However, once he arrived at the entrance to the building, he was thrown to the ground and beaten repeatedly, with several punches in the face, in front of the doorman who did nothing to stop the attack. Strong images of the attack were published by the lawyer on his Instagram.

Victor and his mother, Regina Meyniel, filed a complaint with the 12th DP and opened a police report. The plaintiff underwent a criminal examination at the IML (medical-legal institute) and was assisted by the UPA, the defense said in a statement.

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro confirmed the incident and, after analyzing the monitoring images of the building, specified that the attacker was taken to the 12th DP (Copacabana), where he was reported in flagrante delicto for the crimes of bodily harm, bodily harm by prejudice and ideological falsehood – because he presented himself to the delegate as an aviation doctor. The goalkeeper of the building was also indicted for failure to assist.

The agents continue to exercise “too much diligence to clarify the facts”.

Assault on Rock in Rio

This was not the first assault Victor Meyniel suffered. In 2017 he had reported being a victim of homophobia at Rock in Rio, publishing a bloody photo and writing: “For those who say that homophobia does not exist, good morning and good week”.

The actor became famous as a teenager thanks to the content of the Vine application, in which the videos were six seconds long. He also had a YouTube channel, which he decided to abandon, despite having 1 million subscribers, to pursue an acting career.

In the cinema he starred in the films “Internet: o Filme” (2017) and “Meus 15 Anos” (2017). He also filmed “Os Espetaculares”, by André Pellenz (“Minha Mãe É uma Peça – O Filme”), which, despite having a trailer in 2020, did not have a commercial release, and “The Last Party”, by Matheus Souza (“Ana e Vitória”), still undated for the premiere.
