After being transferred to hospital, gospel singer Regis Danese, 50, was once again admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). According to a statement released by the medical team of the UMC Hospital – Uberlândia Medical Center, in Minas Gerais, this Saturday (9), “the patient remains stable and is hospitalized for observation in intensive care for intensive care monitoring”.
Transfer to hospital
The artist was initially admitted to the Governador Otávio Lage de Siqueira (Hugol) State Emergency Hospital, in Goiânia, Goiás, after suffering a car accident on the BR-153 highway, in the city of Jaraguá. The transfer to the UMC hospital occurred at the request of the musician himself who, according to the medical team’s report, “was in good general health, was conscious and breathing spontaneously”.
Regis Danese requested the transfer to Uberlândia for two main reasons: proximity to family and place of residence. Her youngest daughter, Brenda Danese, 14, who lives in the city of Minas Gerais, had difficulty visiting her father due to her school commitments.
Details of the accident
The road accident that led to the singer’s hospitalization occurred on the BR-153 highway, in Jaraguá, Goiás. Regis was on his way to a show when his vehicle collided head-on with a truck, causing serious damage to the car and some fractures to the singer.
In a significant improvement, Regis had a feeding tube removed Thursday evening (9/7), due to developments in the process of digesting food.
The transfer to the UMC Hospital in Uberlândia took place on Friday (8/9). Plans for his discharge from the hospital or possible next steps in his treatment have not yet been released.
