Actress Sophie Turner has filed a lawsuit against Joe Jonas to claim custody of her children, who were said to be living illegally in New York City (USA) with their father. The couple announced their divorce earlier this month after four years together.
The site TMZ revealed this Thursday (21/9) that Sophie planned to raise her heirs in England with her ex-husband, as the former couple considered the place safe for their children. But the situation would sour as soon as she committed to recording a series.
In the midst of the couple’s arguments, the artist allowed her children to stay with their father while he toured the United States with the band Jonas Brothers. The initial plan was that as soon as the recordings were finished, Sophie would return to the countryside to look for her heirs and bring them to England.
The former couple met again on Sunday (17/9) to talk about the divorce, when Sophie Turner expressed her desire to take minors this week. However, sources say Joe Jones “refused to return the passports [dos filhos] from their mother and send the children home to England.”
The situation was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Turner, who filed a court document in the U.S. District Court in New York, requesting the passports and custody of the two heirs. She the actress also revealed the details of the divorce, such as the fact that she learned about the separation through the international press.
“The appellant Sophie Belinda Turner (the ‘mother’), through her solicitors signed below, files this verified petition for the return of the children to England (the ‘petition’), against the respondent, Joseph Adam Jonas (the ‘father ‘)”, determines the action, obtained by journalist Ben Feuerherd.
Separation
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s relationship made headlines in 2016 with the first dating rumors. Three years later, the couple made their union official with two ceremonies: the first in Las Vegas, in May, immediately after the Jonas Brothers’ performance at the Billboard Music Awards, and the second in France, in a castle in Sarrians.
The marriage ended in early September, when the international press indicated that Jonas supported the divorce due to Turner’s more “partying” behavior. In this version the singer would still have tried to preserve the relationship, given his reluctance to break up the family.
The couple had two daughters: Willa, the eldest born in July 2020, and DJ, the second girl who arrived in September 2022 and whose official name Joe and Sophie never revealed.
