A 39-year-old funk singer has been arrested on charges of being part of and promoting a criminal group operating in Rio de Janeiro and Ceará. The capture of José André Ferreira Costa Júnior, the MC PQDtook place in the neighborhood of Olaria (RJ), in a joint action by the civil police of Ceará and Rio de Janeiro.

According to investigations conducted by the Police Station for the Repression of Organized Crime (Draco), a specialized unit of the Civil Police of Ceará, the MC is suspected of being part of a criminal group in Rio de Janeiro.

This was reported by the Civil Police Earth that investigations indicate that the singer published videos on his social networks in which he apologized for the crime, using long weapons, ballistic vests and symbols associated with a criminal group also active in Ceará.

According to police reports, José André shared an audio on a site in which he greeted the leaders of the group operating in the state of Ceará, as well as singing songs that also refer to this criminal organization. Therefore, the police authority of the Ceará Judiciary requested a preventive arrest warrant.

The action had the support of the Directorate of Integrated Operations and Intelligence of the National Secretariat of Public Security (Senasp) of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), which promoted integration and allowed the exchange of information between the civil police of Ceará and Rio de Janeiro.

After an exchange of information between the two police forces, the MC was located and arrested at two in the morning on Saturday 21st, while he was on his way to a funk dance, where he would have performed. The teams intercepted the suspect’s vehicle and made the approach in the Olaria neighborhood, in RJ. The suspect’s car and cell phone were also seized.

José André was taken to a police unit, where civil police officers complied with the preventive arrest warrant issued by the Court of Ceará for the crime of joining a criminal organization. It was made available to the Judiciary.

Investigations by the Ceará Civil Police are underway with the aim of identifying other targets involved in criminal actions of groups operating in Ceará and other states.
