Singer Jojo Todynho reported on her social networks that she was the victim of an episode of racism while shopping at the Beira-Mar market, in Fortaleza, on Saturday 17th. She reported that she had gone to buy a suitcase to store some gifts that had received during the tour, when he was the target of a racist attack by a local exhibitor.

“A lady came and said to me: ‘Can you go to the store and I’ll give you a gift and you can tag me on Instagram?’. I told her: ‘No, thanks, I don’t want to.’ She said: ‘These black people are all arrogant,’” Jojo said.

Jojo Todynho said he went to speak to the shop assistant after the incident and that the site administrator apologized. Furthermore, the singer declared on her social networks that she had registered a police report (BO).

“Whoever wants respect, gives respect. I just discussed it, but in one of these I put my hand in my face… Why does it have to be like this with racists. I said I came for a walk, I’m not obliged to accept the product,” he added.

On the other hand, the person accused by Jojo of racism declared, again through social media, that he had filed a complaint with the police (BO) accusing the singer of defamation.

“I told her I never called her black. I even talked to her, but she’s always very emotional, she just can’t speak,” he replied.
