Bruce Willis announced in 2022 that he would retire from his acting career due to aphasia, a speech disorder caused by brain damage. In an interview on the SiriusXM program on Radio Andy in the United States, he said:
“When you let go of who they were, or who you thought they were [deveriam ser]you can really stay in the present and absorb the joy and love that is there.”
The artist then reiterated that he prefers to focus on “taking joy and love” for who Bruce is rather than lamenting his condition.
The actor’s family announced the dementia diagnosis a year after Willis announced his retirement due to treatment for aphasia.
