The cook Eric Jacquin divided the web on Sunday 21st, after recording a video in which she appeared in a bathing suit on a beach. The publication was made as a criticism of people who wear “shorts and flip flops” to go to one of her Président restaurants in Sao Paulo.

OR Estadao contacted Jacquin’s advisors for a statement regarding comments disapproving of the chef’s attitude, but received no response. The space remains open.

“Why are you going to my restaurant in a tank top, shorts and flip flops?,” he asked in the recording. “Do you think the beach is a place to wear a suit and tie? Do the same thing to me.”

Afterwards, Jacquin appeared diving and swimming in the sea with his clothes on. “Do you think I’m right? […] Every place has clothes we can wear to go there,” she said.

In the comments, Internet users criticized the chef’s attitude. “This discussion is prejudicial. I pay to eat and not to parade,” wrote an Instagram user. “Since you used to go to the beach in a suit, now I can wear shorts to restaurants,” said another.

Others, however, defended the Frenchman’s position. “When I went to Président we said the same thing: how can someone go to a restaurant like that in shorts and flip-flops? What a lack of elegance”, commented one internet user. “Appropriateness is a virtue. There are people who go beyond the limits. They want to be respected, but they don’t know how to respect it,” said another. Watch Jacquin’s video above.
