The big releases of the week of April 24th
There are four films at the cinema this week that have the potential to attract a large audience. To start with Back to blackthe biopic about the famous singer Amy Winehouse who made his mark with only two albums released during his lifetime, before passing away on July 23, 2011, at the age of 27. Yet another musical biopic, some will say, since we saw it recently Elvis, Bob Marley: a love OR Whitney Houston: I want to dance with someone. Except here director Sam Taylor-Johnson chose to focus on a short period of the singer’s life, from the signing of her first album to the recording of her second, before suggesting the image of her dying. Also published this week Challengersthe new Luca Guadagnino film you see Zendaya plays a professional tennis player, who falls in love with two friends who become rivals over the years. The feature film has, on paper, serious topics to attract viewers.
But for those who prefer a brotherly story to this love triangle, it’s there Brothers with. Inspired by the incredible true story by Michel de Robert and his brother Patrice who lived for years in nature, the film turns out to be very touching (see our review). Finally, on the comedy front, André Dussollier and Sabine Azéma reunite Never confess which highlights a retired couple on the verge of breaking up.
For the curious
Let’s move on to more reserved releases and, even if these films will not be in all French cinemas, there will still be some beautiful things to discover. AS First report, a drama about a young lawyer who recently graduates and whose first case is defending a man accused of murder. A relationship that will shock her.
We also recommend a little entertainment this week with Sky Dome 2123, which in addition to being an atypical visual proposal, imagines a future devastated by drought and in which humanity is forced to sacrifice all those over 50 years of age to transform them into trees. In between, a romantic drama will unfold between a man who refuses to allow his wife to sacrifice herself before her fiftieth birthday.
Finally, for fans of crime thrillers, The Devourer of Soulsby the administrators of The Deep Houseit should provide a good dose of emotion.
