Maya Massafera Releases New Statement on LGBTQIAPN+ Pride Day: “I’ve Always Been a Woman”

“28/06 LGBTQIA+ Pride Day. It took me a long time to understand that I am a trans woman. For several reasons. With a lot of therapy, I understand much better and today I want to talk about one of the reasons. In my mind I have always been a woman”, he began.

“I have always identified as a woman and in all my thoughts I was a woman. Even in my closest friendships I was always ‘treated’ in a feminine way. But I didn’t identify, I couldn’t understand that I was a trans woman”has continued.

“The word TRAVESTI, for example. Most people don’t understand its true meaning. Come on: did you know that transvestite and trans woman have the same meaning? Forget plastic surgery, forget profession, social class… forget everything and understand: every trans woman is a transvestite”he underlined.

“Every transvestite is a trans woman. Don’t confuse transvestite with ‘transvestite’. This word should never be used, it is extremely transphobic,” reinforced.

“Anyway, transvestite, that’s me, Lea T, Roberta Close, Erika Hilton, Ariadna, all of us who are trans women, are transvestites. So let’s start changing the way we see this word and normalize what is normal”He said.
