The actor claims to suffer from prosopagnosia, a rare “facial blindness” disorder.

Brad Pitt surprised by revealing that he has a rare and incurable disease. The Hollywood star diagnosed himself with prosopagnosia, a “face blindness” disorder that makes it difficult for him to remember people.
In an interview with GQ, the actor said he would like to meet more people with the condition. “Nobody believes me. I want to meet others,” he said. According to the Prosopagnosia Research Center, 1 in 50 people have some level of the disease.
Prosopagnosia is a neurological condition and interferes with the ability to recognize faces. Those who suffer from the disease at more severe levels find it difficult to distinguish a face as something other than an object.
Brad also confessed to feeling embarrassed when he can’t remember someone’s face. The artist said he was concerned that, due to his disturbance, some people see him as “distracted, unapproachable and self-centered”. “That’s why I’m staying at home,” he assured him.
People with this type of disorder often use other ways to recognize family and friends, such as voice, clothing, or physical characteristics. “Every now and then someone gives me context and I say, ‘Thank you for helping me,'” she explained.
Pitt once tried to deny his problem, however, it “pissed off more people”. He then exposed the disease after revealing that he was thinking of retiring. It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time the actor talks about his problem with prosopagnosia. In 2013, in an interview with Esquire, he stated that the disease is a mystery. “So many people hate me because they think I disrespect them, but I can’t make out a face,” he complained at the time.
The star has not yet received an official diagnosis, but Carnegie Mellon University has already offered a neuroscientist to examine her brain.
