Creator of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” is found dead on a beach in Japan

Mangaka Kazuki Takahashi was found dead Wednesday morning (7/6) on a Japanese beach, but his identity was only confirmed on Thursday. He was floating in the waters off Nago, Okinawa, wearing scuba gear, according to the Japanese Coast Guard.

Takahashi was the creator of the “Yu-Gi-Oh!” Manga, which spawned a very popular anime and successful card game in the early 2000s.

According to authorities, bite marks were found on the body, which may have been made by sharks and other marine animals.

The body of Takahashi, who was 60, was identified after a car rental company called Okinawa police. She had lost contact with the artist, who had hired her services and was traveling alone in the region.

Takahashi began drawing manga in 1982. His first work was “Fighting Hawk”, released in 1990, and the following year he created “Tennenshokudanji Buray”, which ran in two volumes and was published between 1991 and 1992. But it was not successful until 1996., When he created “Yu-Gi-Oh!”.

Published from September 1996 to March 2004, the manga tells the story of a boy named Yugi Mutou, who solves an ancient puzzle and awakens an alter-ego within his body who begins to resolve conflicts using various games.

The manga has been adapted into several anime series. The first was produced by Toei Animation in 1998, while the others were developed by NAS, Gallop and Bridge. The most remembered is “Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters”, which aired for five seasons between 2000 and 2004. The most recent is “Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush !!”, released last April.
