Preta Gil denounces her pain and makes Silvio Santos explode in her book: ‘Leave the program crying’

Singer Preta Gil opens her heart in a book and recalls an embarrassing situation on Silvio Santos’ show on SBT

The singer Preta Gil reported a painful experience with the host Silvio Santo in his autobiography, “The First 50”. In the work he describes significant moments in his life, including an uncomfortable situation on SBT.

The celebrity said she experienced an episode of fatphobia on Silvio Santos’ show in 2018. “Fatphobia is everywhere. It’s ingrained. I remember Silvio Santos’ production team calling me several times for the program. In 2018 I agreed to do it, as it would be with David Brazil”start.

And he added: “And there, on that stage, everything started to go wrong. It was a real pain. I wasn’t prepared for it. He asked me how I had “found a husband”. Clearly because of my weight. Today I regret not leaving the stage. But I didn’t have the strength. I had a feeling that I imagine was a bit similar to that described by women who suffer physical or verbal violence. I felt helpless, I gave up”, Preta said in one of the excerpts.

Gilberto Gil’s daughter confessed to being very shocked by the situation. “Silvio started talking about my weight. And all I could think about was that if I opened my mouth, I would start crying and I would end up looking like the crazy woman in the story. Which, let’s face it, is kind of what happened, because he put the show on the air and he deleted the whole part where he was verbally attacking me. And I show up with that scowl because I’m very uncomfortable. The whole studio, the dancers, David, everyone was uncomfortable.”said the artist in his outburst.

Program Team

Preta Gil said she was still being criticized for the production of Silvio Santos’ program. “When I left the show crying, the management was visibly angry with me. “What a shame you didn’t take it as a joke. What a shame you have no sense of humor.” And how to have humor!? He called me fat, ugly, a liar…“, he stated in the book.

It is worth remembering that Silvio Santos died at the age of 93 at the Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo, due to complications from pneumonia, influenza (H1N1) and infections.
