Like any Soviet film, the film “Carnival Night” hides a lot of secrets and interesting facts from the shooting. Let’s talk about the most interesting.

The release of the film “Carnival Night” was, in a way, an accident. In 1955, Eldar Ryazanov planned to start filming the drama “Meetings in Kamchatka”, but at Mosfilm he was offered to pay attention to the script for the comedy, which had long been gathering dust on the shelf. The young director didn’t have to choose and yet he set to work without much enthusiasm.

After correcting the script, Ryazanov began to look for actors. The most difficult was with Lenochka Krylova: the actress was not in this role. Interestingly, Lyudmila Gurchenko failed the first tests for this film. She came across a novice cameraman who put on a bad light, in which she appeared in the most disadvantageous form.

As a result, Lyudmila Kasyanova was approved for the role of Krylova, but already on the third day of filming it became clear that the actress could not cope with the task and the image did not fit. Fortunately, Ivan Pyryev, once meeting Gurchenko in the halls of Mosfilm, immediately brought her to the director and insisted that her application be considered again. This time everything worked. Lyudmila came to the role so organically that in the end her heroine came to the fore, although this was not originally planned.

Nevertheless, it was decided to work on the appearance of the actress. To make Gurchenko’s face look more beautiful, harmonious and mischievous, she raised the tip of her nose with a special adhesive tape that quietly “goes” along the bridge of her nose. It is this small detail that completes this look.
