Do you remember her? Former Miss Brazil and former BBB Joseanne Oliveira lost her title for hiding that she was married

Gaúcha joined “Big Brother Brazil” in 2002 and his marital status was revealed. At the time, the competition prohibited the participation of married or divorced candidates.

Winner of Miss Brazil 2002Joseanne Oliveira from Rio Grande do Sul saw her life change when she joined the BBB 2. Within the program he also flirted with a participant. But the reality show caused a turning point in the model’s life, when Joseanne participated in the Domingão do Faustão as soon as it was eliminated.

On the program, each eliminated member was welcomed by the presenter to talk about the experience and receive messages from family members. Joseanne received a text from her then-husband, Rafael Vargas.

At that moment, the house collapsed! The discovery that Miss Brazil was officially married left the pageant organization outraged, as the pageant prohibited the participation of married or divorced candidates in Miss Universe (and consequently in the qualifiers for each country). With that, the former BBB was crowned and officially became the former Miss Brazil.

Joseanne, who was one of the favorites to win Miss Universe, admitted that she lied and lost the crown. The person who took over the position was Miss Brazil runner-up, Taíza Thomsen, who did not win the world competition that year.

The Rio Grande do Sul model also had another chance in the BBB 10which brought former participants back, but didn’t win the reality show either. Currently, Joseanne is an influencer and works as a DJ.

Another young lady lost her crown because she was married

In 2015 the same rule was broken, only in one more contest. Miss Sergipe, Ana Luísa Castro, was dethroned from the position of Miss World Brazil when it was discovered that she was married. Unlike Joseane, who almost completely fulfilled her mandate as Miss Brazil, Ana Luísa held the crown for just over 24 hours and had to hand it over to the second runner-up.

The rules have changed

In 2022, the Official Miss Universe Organization announced rule changes after 70 years. “We believe that women should be responsible for their own lives, and that a personal decision by a human being should not be an obstacle to success,” reads the text signed by CEO Amy Emmerich.

From 2023, Miss Universe candidates can be married or divorced, and there is no impediment for pregnant women or women with children. In the same year another important rule changed. Previously, only women up to 28 years of age by February of the pageant year were eligible for Miss Universe. Currently, any female over the age of 18 can participate in the event.
