THE King Carl XVI Gustaf78 years old, and the Queen Silvia Renate Sommerlath80 years old, from Sweden, are spending a few days on holiday in Itacarezinho, in Ilhéus, Bahia. The couple was surprised this Saturday, 16th, while sunbathing, using surfboards. body surfing and relax in the Brazilian paradise.

In early November 2024, the King and Queen of Sweden were in the city of São Manuel, inland from São Paulo. Accompanied by Prince Dom Bertrand of Orleans and Bragança, head of the Imperial House of Brazil, they participated in the inauguration of a railway station named after Silvia’s mother.

The Swedish royals also took advantage of their visit to the municipality to visit the Mother Church of São Manuel, a shelter for the elderly where Queen Silvio’s great-grandfather lived. In a speech, the Queen Consort thanked the honor and highlighted the station as the “gateway” to further progress in the city.

Born in Germany in 1943, Queen Silvia is the daughter of businessman Walther Sommerlath and Brazilian Alice Soares de Toledo, born in São Manuel. She and King Carlos XVI Gustavo married in 1976. Together they are the parents of three children: Vitória, the Crown Princess; Carlos Filipe, the Duke of Varmlândia; and Madalena, the Duchess of Helsingia and Gestrícia.

According to reports in the Swedish press, Queen Silvia’s children, despite their titles, were brought up like normal children. The only exception was Victoria, who was raised to rule the throne. The other brothers studied in public schools as an example.
