After the complaint of domestic violence, the former goalkeeper in Brazil is arrested with an illegal weapon

The police operation took place in his residence and was motivated by a relationship of domestic violence recorded at the Portuguese public service in July of this year.




According to the investigation, the suspicion of the possession of the weapons dates back to a fight that occurred seven years ago with the former partner, with whom he maintained an extramarital relationship for about a decade. The woman would plan a meeting with Helton to return the personal effects that remained in her old residence, but in the end she claimed to have received threats from the former goalkeeper.

According to the reports published by the Portuguese newspaper PublicDuring the meeting on a road in Vila Nova de Gaia, Helton would lean on what seemed to be a weapon in the woman’s head, hiding the object as soon as a knowledge of his approach and questioned the situation. The former athlete would have said: “See. Here’s how misfortunes happen.”

During the magazine at his house, the police found the gun in the couple’s room. Helton said the weapons belonged to a deceased friend, the musician Mário Rui Maiawho would go to the residence to record music in his study. The authorities, however, discovered that the weapon was recorded on behalf of someone else and would be stolen in a nearby city, about 70 kilometers from the residence of the former player.

Career

After detention, Helton was issued by the commitment for periodic frequency in court. The former goalkeeper has lived in Portugal for over 20 years, having arrived in the country in 2002 to play Uneão Leiria. In 2005, he moved to Porto, where he remained until 2016, winning seven Portuguese championships and a Europa League. Previously, from Vasco da Gama, he was Libertadores champion in 1998 and the Brazilian championship and the Mercosur Cup in 2000. For the Brazilian team, he participated in the Copa America champion team in 2007.
