What was the very first “naked” scandal at the Cannes Film Festival – today such stuff would be considered the norm!

Today, the Cannes Film Festival strikes everyone’s imagination with stellar images from the red carpet. Well, who today is going to surprise you with a “nude” dress, too high a slit, a deep neckline or a lack of underwear?

68 years ago, in 1954, little-known and unpromising actress Simona Silva decided to entertain journalists and held a public photo op with actor Robert Mitcham for future festival cards.

The shooting took place on the beach. Silva came in a short skirt, which already shocked the audience – the outfit at that time was very provocative. But Simone took it a step further and literally within minutes of the start she simply took off and took off the whole top, exposing her breasts in front of the cameras. The cameras clicked with new force, the spectators began to gather, forming a crowd. They say there was even a stampede – a few guys broke their legs, some almost drowned in the water.

The next morning, topless pictures came to the direction of the Cannes Film Festival, there was a terrible scandal. Silva’s act was called flagrant, so Simone, and with her and Robert, were asked to leave the French Riviera immediately.
