Why Alexander Blok’s marriage is called one of the most painful and unhappy in history

Alexander Blok married once, but this marriage did not bring happiness to either him or his wife.

In 1903, 23-year-old Alexander Blok married Lyubov Mendeleeva, the daughter of Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev. The poet had strong feelings for the chosen one, but from the very beginning it was a strange marriage.

The couple lived together, but, for example, they did not have an intimate life. You would think that two people met who were indifferent to sex, but no: Alexander and Lyubov had a lot of lovers next door.

After a while, Love managed to get her husband’s attention, but that only disappointed the family.

After some time, an open relationship legally began in the family, which led … to Lyubov’s pregnancy. Of course, from someone else. Love gave birth, and Alexander accepted the child as his own. Alas, 8 days after birth, the baby died, and the couple again moved away from each other. Everyone went on with their life. At least sexually.

In fairness, we note that Blok was very supportive of his wife after the loss of the child, so she took care of him during his serious illness.

This union of Blok is called one of the most painful and unhappy, because not a single person in this marriage was comfortable and calm.
