Thiago Rodríguez lived a nightmare this Saturday (10). The actor was robbed and beaten by five bandits as he left a bar in the Gávea neighborhood of south Rio de Janeiro. According to the columnist Ancelmo Gois, of the newspaper “O Globo”, the actor – who was married to journalist Cristiane Dias – he tried to escape when he was captured by men, but could not. He had his cell phone stolen after he passed out during the assault.
Again according to Ancelmo, Thiago only woke up this Sunday, the day after the incident, in Praça Santos Dumont, which is located in the same neighborhood where the robbery took place. He was assisted by a lady and, after regaining consciousness, he was taken to the Miguel Couto hospital in Leblon. The actor had part of his scalp torn off and he had to get stitches on the spot.
In a statement, the press office of the Municipal Health Department reported on the state of health of the 42-year-old artist. “The management of the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital informs that Thiago was admitted to the unit this Sunday morning (11), underwent examinations, underwent a wound suture procedure and was released,” the statement reads.
The police station where the case was registered also released a statement: “The case has been registered with the 15th DP (Gávea) and efforts are underway to identify the perpetrator of the crime.”
