Pele has cancer progression and the medical team deals with kidney and heart dysfunction

King of Football has been hospitalized since November 29; he treats colon cancer

Pelé’s clinical condition worsened, according to the medical bulletin released by the Albert Einstein Hospital, this Wednesday 21. The soccer king has been treating colon cancer since last year, and was recently hospitalized to reevaluate chemotherapy and his treatment of cancer tumor pathology.

According to the bulletin of the São Paulo unit, it now requires “greater treatment related to kidney and heart dysfunction”.

“Admitted since November 29 for a reevaluation of chemotherapy for colon cancer and for the treatment of a respiratory infection, Edson Arantes do Nascimento presents progression of the oncological disease and requires more care related to renal and cardiac dysfunction”.

Last week Pelé had improved in his clinical condition and received his daughter, Kely Nascimento, who does not live in Brazil. This Wednesday he posted on social networks that the family’s Christmas at home “has been suspended”. “We decided with the doctors that, for several reasons, it would be better for us to stay here, with all the care this new family gives us… Einstein!!”, he said.

Posing with his sister, Flávia Arantes, he thanked all the affection that Pelé fans send to the family. “Your love for him and your stories and prayers are a HUGE comfort as we know we are not alone.”

Kelly still jokes that they will turn the “room into a sambadrome”. “We will also make caipirinhas (no joke!!),” she says. She concludes by wishing a Christmas “full of family, full of children, full of those quarrels”, in addition to love and health.
