Rapper Kanye West – also known as Ye – reportedly disappeared to avoid paying a debt owed to his former manager, Thomas St. John. According to The Sun newspaper, the former businessman is asking for an extension of the open case against Ye so that court officials can find him.
Tommaso S. John is suing the rapper for $4.5 million in unpaid taxes while acting as the artist’s manager. However, since the lawsuit was filed, court officials have been unable to serve West of the subpoena.
“Overall, we’ve had a difficult time confirming Kanye West’s current best address,” an official said, noting that “we’ve been trying to find him by mail” to “three different addresses.” Furthermore, a package delivered to an address would be returned to the sender.
As noted in the filing, the St. John “has yet to attempt to personally deliver to you” because it “is unable to verify its current residential address.” According to TMZ, Ye has been living a “nomadic life for months, traveling here and there and not really having a home base,” though he’s been spotted in Los Angeles this month.
The lawsuit also says St. John has been unable to contact Ye’s lawyers because he apparently does not currently have a lawyer, the Sun noted.
Reports surfaced in October that the rapper was working with Camille Vasquez, the attorney who represented Johnny Depp in his lawsuit against Amber Heard. But their working relationship would end days later when she refused to retract after the anti-Semitic remarks.
