Cristiano Ronaldo has married his long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez in an intimate civil ceremony at their new £30 million mansion near Lisbon. The couple tied the knot at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, August 11, in front of just four witnesses and their children.
The ceremony took place without the presence of Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro, or his three siblings, Hugo, Elma, and Katia. Local reports in Portugal claim his family only learned about the wedding moments before it occurred.

According to Portuguese television presenter Cristina Ferreira, the absence of the footballer's immediate family from the ceremony could create tension. Speaking on the TVI programme Dois at 10, Ferreira claimed that the situation would cause a lot of problems because the family was not present, adding that if they did know, it was 30 seconds beforehand.
Co-host Claudio Ramos added on the broadcast that he hoped their on-air discussion regarding social media impressions did not cause sadness within the family or misrepresent how events unfolded.

Despite her absence from the event, Dolores Aveiro publicly gave her blessing to the marriage. Shortly after the couple announced their wedding, she posted a heart emoticon on Ronaldo's official social media page beneath a photograph of their wedding bands. Ronaldo's sister Katia, who is based in Brazil and had travelled to her native Madeira over the weekend to visit family, also posted a heart emoticon. She has not publicly commented on reports regarding her absence from the ceremony in Cascais.

Official Marriage Certificate Details
Details of the private ceremony emerged late on Thursday when the Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias published a copy of the couple's marriage certificate. The document, recorded as number 1,493 of this year, was registered at the registry office in the northern city of Porto rather than Cascais, the municipality where the wedding took place.
The marriage certificate shows that the ceremony was officiated by registrar Maria Manuel Ferreira de Campos Folhadela de Oliveira, who travelled from Porto to Cascais for the occasion. The record lists Ronaldo by his full name at age 41, along with his birthplace in Funchal on the island of Madeira and the names of his parents, including his late father Jose Dinis.
The certificate lists Rodriguez, 32, by her full name of Georgina Luisa Rodriguez Hernandez, noting her birthplace in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires. In accordance with Portuguese legal tradition, both individuals will retain their pre-marriage surnames.

Witnesses and Financial Agreement
The official document confirms that only four witnesses attended the civil union alongside the couple's children. The named witnesses were Rodriguez's sister Ivana, Ronaldo's long-time friend Miguel Paixao, and Spanish jeweller Jose Rodriguez Sangil alongside his wife Monica Goncalez Martinez.
The couple married exactly one year to the day after announcing their engagement on social media following a decade-long romance. Prior to tying the knot, they established a formal agreement regarding their assets. On August 10, the day before the wedding, the pair signed a pre-nuptial agreement at a public notary office in Lisbon to define their property regime and keep their pre-marriage assets separate.

The ceremony took place at Ronaldo's newly constructed mansion in Quinta da Marina, an upmarket residential enclave in Cascais near Lisbon. The custom-built property includes features such as an infinity pool, an underground car park, and a private cinema room.

Prior Speculation and Saudi Return
Confirmation of the Cascais wedding followed unconfirmed reports suggesting the couple planned to marry at Funchal Cathedral on the island of Madeira. Representatives for Ronaldo confirmed earlier in the week that the couple had married in an intimate ceremony on August 11 after both shared photographs on Instagram displaying their gold wedding bands.
Ronaldo is widely recognized as one of the most successful association football players in history, having won five Ballon d'Or awards and multiple UEFA Champions League titles during his career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, as well as leading the Portugal national team to victory at Euro 2016. Rodriguez, a former luxury retail assistant, has documented her work as a model and influencer since beginning her relationship with the star.
Following their wedding in Portugal, the couple returned to Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays club football for Al Nassr, ahead of the start of the new domestic football season.
