Demi Lovato turned the Palco Mundo stage at Rock in Rio 2026 into a tour through different eras of her career on Saturday night, September 12, closing the set with a surprise guest appearance by Brazilian singer Pabllo Vittar.
It marked Lovato's return to the festival after previously performing there in 2022. The American singer blended the dance-pop sound of her current era with hits that have followed her for more than a decade.
Lovato arrived in Brazil on her "It's Not That Deep" tour, which supports the album of the same name released in 2025. But she did not leave her classic tracks out of the setlist. The crowd heard hits including "Heart Attack," "Give Your Heart a Break" and "Confident," alongside the more disco-leaning sound of her newest material.
From her latest era, the set also included "Fast," "Here All Night" and "Kiss," showcasing a more danceable side of the artist.
A long history with Brazilian fans
Lovato has performed in Brazil since 2009 and has now played more than 25 shows in the country. During Saturday's performance, she spoke about how important Brazilian fans have been throughout her career.
She said the show was not just a highlight of her career, but a highlight of her life.
The connection with Brazil grew stronger in the final moments of the set. To close with "Cool for the Summer," Lovato invited Pabllo Vittar to join her on the Palco Mundo stage, and the two singers performed the 2015 hit together.
Who is Pabllo Vittar
Vittar is one of Brazil's best-known pop artists and drag performers, recognized both domestically and internationally for blending Brazilian funk and pop influences. The joint appearance drew a strong reaction from fans watching the set, with clips of the performance circulating widely on social media afterward.
What's next
Following the Rio de Janeiro show, Lovato is scheduled to perform two more concerts in Sao Paulo, on September 15 and 16, at the Suhai Music Hall.
