American singer Demi Lovato, 34, has performed 26 shows in Brazil over the course of her career, according to CNN Brasil. She returned to the Palco Mundo stage at Rock in Rio 2026 on Saturday, September 12, four years after her first appearance at the festival.
Lovato performed on the Palco Mundo the same day as Maroon 5. She had arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, September 10, ahead of a schedule that includes three shows in the country this month. After Rock in Rio, she travels to São Paulo for two more dates at the Suhai Music Hall on September 15 and 16.
Rock in Rio is one of the largest music festivals in the world, founded in Rio de Janeiro in 1985 and now also held in cities such as Lisbon and Madrid. The Palco Mundo is the festival's main stage, reserved for its biggest headline acts.
2009: debut with the Jonas Brothers
Lovato's first performances in Brazil came in 2009, when she was 16 and had just risen to fame through the film "Camp Rock" and her debut studio album, "Don't Forget." She opened for the Jonas Brothers on their tour, playing two shows, one in Rio de Janeiro and one in São Paulo.
2010 to 2012: solo tours take shape
Lovato returned in 2010 with her own "South American Tour," playing HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro on May 27 and Via Funchal in São Paulo on May 28, during the era of her second album, "Here We Go Again."
In 2012 she visited Brazil twice. An April South American tour brought shows to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte on April 19, 20 and 22, with an added São Paulo date on April 30. She returned months later for the Z Festival, playing São Paulo on September 29 and Rio de Janeiro on September 30.
2014: her biggest run of Brazilian shows
Lovato's "The Neon Lights Tour" produced her largest sequence of Brazilian dates. Demand was strong enough that extra dates were added after tickets sold out, bringing the total to eight shows across São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belo Horizonte and Porto Alegre between April 22 and May 3, 2014. São Paulo hosted three of the concerts and Rio de Janeiro two, with one each in the remaining cities. The tour promoted her album "Demi," which included "Heart Attack," "Neon Lights" and "Really Don't Care."
2015 to 2017: smaller shows and festival slots
In October 2015, Lovato played a smaller pocket show in São Paulo on October 20, as she began promoting her album "Confident," featuring the title track and "Cool for the Summer."
She returned to São Paulo's Allianz Parque on December 10, 2016, for another appearance at the Z Festival, shortly before starting the cycle for her next album, "Tell Me You Love Me."
In 2017 she added Goiânia to her list of Brazilian tour stops, performing at the VillaMix Festival on July 1 in the parking lot of Estádio Serra Dourada.
2018: shows canceled after overdose
A Brazilian leg of the "Tell Me You Love Me World Tour" was planned for November 2018, with dates set for São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Fortaleza. The shows were canceled after Lovato suffered an overdose in July of that year and began treatment.
2022 and 2023: a return to Brazil and The Town
Lovato came back to Brazilian stages in 2022 with a new sound, having brought guitars and rock influences into her album "Holy Fvck." The visit began with two shows at Espaço Unimed in São Paulo on August 30 and 31, followed by a Belo Horizonte date on September 2 and a set at Rock in Rio on September 4, her first appearance at the festival. Her set mixed songs from the new album with hits from earlier in her career.
The following year, on September 2, 2023, she performed at the first edition of The Town festival at the Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo, drawing on material from across her discography.
2026: back on the Palco Mundo
Three years later, Lovato is once again touring Brazil. Her latest visit brings her back to the Rock in Rio Palco Mundo before two further shows at São Paulo's Suhai Music Hall on September 15 and 16.
