Actress Elizabeth Olsen has reportedly given birth to her first child with her husband, musician Robbie Arnett. The 37-year-old star was spotted walking in Los Angeles on Saturday while carrying a baby strapped to her chest in a white carrier, according to photographs obtained by Page Six.

During the weekend outing, Olsen wore a white outfit paired with a wide-brimmed hat. She took extra care to keep the newborn shaded from the sun by holding a second oversized green hat directly over the baby carrier.

Speculation that the WandaVision star had already delivered her child began last weekend. She was seen stepping out in Southern California wearing a yellow top and striped trousers without an obvious baby bump.

News of Olsen's pregnancy first emerged in June. She and Arnett, a musician with indie pop group Milo Greene, first met in Mexico in 2017. People magazine reported their engagement in July 2019. The couple quietly tied the knot before the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, and Olsen publicly referred to Arnett as her husband during a Variety interview in 2021.

Family planning and career

The Martha Marcy May Marlene actress has previously opened up about balancing motherhood with her Hollywood career. Speaking to SiriusXM in 2021, she pondered when would be the right time to have a baby, asking, "At what point do I get pregnant? At what point do I have my first baby? Is that five years from now? Because then I only have this kind of a window."

That same year, she revealed that she had spoken to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige to ask when she should "think about conceiving a child." Olsen told OK! magazine that he gave "the best answer any boss could say," telling her, "You live your life and we'll work around you."

Views on child actors

Despite her success starring in major films such as Godzilla, Olsen previously stated that she would not want any child she has to follow her into the showbusiness industry. Referencing her older twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen starting in Hollywood at a young age, she said it was a "hard no" as to whether she would want her child to become an actor.

However, she told The Times newspaper that her stance was not "a reflection" on her famous siblings, but rather a reflection on the modern world.

Olsen explained, "Being younger today is already so complicated. To amplify it by being a child actor and then amplify it by social media, I just think it's a lot for a kid's development... I think my sisters are on a totally different path than your average child actor."

Representatives for Olsen have been contacted by the Daily Mail for comment.
