In a magazine interview Harper’s Bazaarthe actress explained that she felt the need to look for projects that deviated from this mold after production, but that she suffered from the pressure she put on herself.
“I had a real coming of age, an extreme landing because of experiencing fame at an early age,” he said – the first feature film by Pirates of the Caribbean was released in 2003 when she was 17 years old.
“He was everyone’s desire,” Keira explained, referring to her character in the saga. “Not that I don’t have a lot of trouble with her. But it was interesting to go from being really ‘tomboy’ to being projected as the complete opposite. I felt really uncomfortable. I felt really trapped.”
The artist confessed that the years between 2003 and 2008 were “complicated” for her, despite having starred in prestigious films such as Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Desire and reparation (2008).
“I had no idea how to articulate it. I felt like I was caged in something I didn’t understand,” she said. “I was incredibly hard on myself. I was never good enough. I was totally resolute.”
Keira explained that she was very ambitious and that while she’s amazed at how strong-willed she was at the time, she now understands the toll it took on her mental health.
