Last Wednesday, the 40-year-old Duchess of Cambridge spent a wonderful day in the garden of Buckingham Palace in the company of Edward and Sophie of Wessex and Princess Alexandra – there was a traditional Garden Party. This is the second party in a year at Her Majesty’s London residence, which unfortunately does not plan to attend most of the upcoming royal events due to mobility issues.
Kate, as usual, chose a spectacular outfit for the exit: a bright pink structured dress by Emilia Wickstead and a matching hat by Jane Taylor. In the shade of the dress of the wife of Prince William, many saw a reference to Elizabeth II. Her favorite shade is New Dawn Red, a branching rose that grows in all her gardens in the same shade as Kate’s dress.
Sophie wore a flowy floral dress and a veiled hat, while Edward looked incredibly elegant in a classic tailcoat and top hat. Princess Alexandra stepped out in a soft pink ensemble of a tweed jacket, a polka-dot skirt and a wide-brimmed hat. All members of the royal family were in high spirits and enjoyed talking with the crowd of guests and journalists.

It should be noted that every year up to three parties are held in the garden of Buckingham Palace, one more such event usually takes place in Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh. Such gatherings are an important part of the royal family’s calendar, and Her Majesty hosts up to 30,000 guests in her gardens each year. Traditionally, about 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 cakes are served at a typical garden party. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla took part in the organization of the first party last week.
Guests at this year’s event are no doubt disappointed that they won’t see the queen, but are glad the party still took place despite cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
Note that earlier this week, Her Majesty was published three times. First, she visited the stables in Windsor, literally a day later – the closing of the Royal Horse Show and, concurrently, the first celebration in a series of celebrations of the Platinum Anniversary of the Board, and the day before yesterday, Elizabeth opened a railway line named in her honor.
