“I wanted to thank the one who now sings rock in heaven,” said the priest
This Sunday, 14, Father Julio Lancellotti celebrated a Mass in the Chapel of the São Judas Tadeu University, located in Mooca.
During the ceremony, the priest revealed that singer Rita Lee, who died last week, donated her clothes to him so that the priest could donate them to the homeless and people in vulnerable situations.
“She was a very close friend and I never said that while she was alive,” the priest said.
“She sent me many of her clothes to give to the homeless. They were delighted to receive Rita Lee’s clothes and everyone wanted Rita Lee’s clothes,” explained the priest.
“Someone asked me one day, ‘why don’t you sell, don’t you put up an auction’. I said ‘that’s not why he sent it. He sent it to give it to the street brothers,'” he added. “That’s what he did and that’s what was done.”
“All her clothes full of shine, full of mirrors, full of pebbles, full of color, in a very special cut. When they (the homeless) saw Rita Lee’s clothes, their eyes grew.”
The priest concluded the Mass by thanking the singer. “I wanted to thank her who now sings rock in heaven”.
At the end of the mass, the faithful even sang a song in his honour, Mariama Nera.
