Brad Pitt accused Angelina Jolie of selling her stake in the family business out of revenge

The marriage of 58-year-old Pitt and 47-year-old Jolie broke up in 2016, but the passions around the former spouses, who have six children in common, have not subsided so far – they still have claims against each other. Back in 2008, Pitt and Jolie acquired a controlling stake in the Château Miraval vineyard in the south of France, where their wedding took place, and launched the production of wine products. According to Pitt, Jolie sold her stake in the family business to a “stranger with toxic intentions,” which would certainly affect the company’s reputation.

In the latest legal action in his ongoing battle with Jolie over the sale of Miraval, Pitt says she “deliberately sought to cause damage” by giving up her stake in the company after they had once agreed not to make any moves in the family business without each other’s consent. . The actor believes that the ex-wife made a deal out of revenge for the fact that Pitt achieved joint custody of the children. In court documents obtained by People, Pitt’s legal team claims that Miraval was Pitt’s pet project, while Jolie “contributed nothing to the company’s success.”

The lawsuit also alleges that Jolie considered selling her stake in Miraval back in October 2021, and the buyer appears to have been Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler, who immediately launched an aggressive takeover of the company. The actor’s lawyers say that Shefler compromised the brand’s reputation, as he is known for dishonest business tactics and involvement in financial fraud.

Jolie planned and then carried out the proposed sale in secrecy, deliberately keeping Pitt in the dark and knowingly violating contractual rights, the actor’s team said in a statement.

Pitt is seeking a jury trial and damages “to the extent agreed upon by the court”, as well as recognition of the alleged sale made by Jolie, “null and void.” Note that earlier in July, Jolie herself went to court with a request to resolve the deal. So far, representatives of the actress are silent and do not comment.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt met in 2004 on the set of the film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, and it was there that an affair began between them, which the current girlfriend of the actor Jennifer Aniston learned about from the press. Pitt and Jolie got married only in 2014, and divorced two years later, in 2016, although the complex divorce process ended even later – in 2019. In total, they lived together for 11 years, and they have six children (including adopted ones), for the sole custody of which Jolie subsequently fought scandalously. She also accused the former of non-payment of alimony. Only 5 years later, Brad Pitt won the case, and now they, apparently, will raise children together, despite the protests of Jolie. However, in 2020, the couple’s eldest son, Maddox, turned 18 and is on his own dropped his surname foster father, so the court decision will not apply to him.

Note that a week earlier, information appeared in the press thatthen in 2019, Pitt gave his ex Jennifer Aniston the $79 million luxury home they once shared.
